The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has withheld the results of 215,267 candidates from the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination DUE TO EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE.

A few of the major reasons why WAEC withheld results are because of the following forms of examination malpractice;

  • Giraffing
  • Use of an unassigned booklet
  • Copy from each other or at one another
  • Smuggling of cribs, notes, textbooks and prepared materials into the examination hall
  • Bring in electronic devices such as mobile phones, smart wristwatches, unauthorized calculators, etc.
  • Writing notes, enclosing cash in scripts, seeking assistance of examiners
  • Submission of more than one worked script
  • Having inscriptions relating to the exam on the body
  • Multiple handwritings found in worked script
  • Insult/assault of examination officials
  • Starting the examinations before the scheduled time or writing after the examination has ended
  • Impersonation
  • Writing outside the examination hall
  • Writing with pencil

WAEC Withheld Result 2024 Release Date

The Withheld results will be released after the NEC meeting by November 20th. That means the exam body will release withheld results if the reason is not due to malpractice.

How to Check WAEC Withheld Result 2024 Online

  1. Visit WAEC result checker: https://www.waecdirect.org/
  2. Enter your 10-digit WAEC Examination Number eg. 4123456789
  3. Enter the 4 digits of your Examination Year eg. 2024
  4. Select the Type of Examination
  5. Enter the Card Serial Number found on the reverse side of your Scratch card.
  6. Enter the Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your Scratch card
  7. Click Submit and wait for the results window to come up

However, the affected candidates are to have PLAN B, by taking advantage of the WAEC GCE Registration before it closes.
